Family Fun in Waxahachie With the Scarborough Renaissance Festival!

What would you be most likely to want to see? I'm thinking the Fire Whip Show, The London Broil Show and Birds of Prey!  But those are just scheduled things you can see. They also have jousting matches! And shows that are geared towards entertaining the children. My daughters are going to want to meet the mermaids of Mermaid Lagoon for sure! We all have men in our lives. Grandfathers, fathers, brothers, friends - the list goes on. And sometimes, buying for these guys can be tricky. But it doesn't have to be. Especially if they are men who can grow undesirable hair.

As part of my association with US Family Guide, I was introduced to the Manscaped company. I've seen some men's grooming products, but hadn't really put much thought into it. After all, my man tends to himself pretty well. But I couldn't help thinking that it didn't hurt to branch out. To introduce him to something new. They chose to send me The Lawn Mower 3.0. Designed for grooming groin and body hair. This little beauty had me awe when it arrived.

Why would I buy this?

For the gentlemen - First off, I have heard plenty of jokes about a woman's leg, underarm, and pubic hair. And what you guys prefer women to do about it. As a lady, I can tell you, that I prefer a man who puts more care into his looks in return. Muscles alone won't cut it for me. Truth be told, they aren't even the highest selling point for me in particular. Second to brains, I look for sophisticated style. Nicely trimmed hair goes a long way. It shows that you are willing to put in effort to match or beat the effort I put in. My husband and I have an agreement. He shaves his face and keeps the mustache/goatee within reason, I will keep the legs and certain other areas smooth for his enjoyment. It is a two-way street, guys. And it goes a LONG way! So if you have nose hairs long enough to be touched by sunlight or excessive body hair that makes us wonder if you are the missing link - you might want to pay attention.

For the ladies - I know what you might be thinking, this would be an embarrassing thing to give to someone, right? My question to you would be WHY? We all have hair. And many of us have it in unwanted places. Shaving can be uncomfortable. Most of us have done it, or are still doing it. Probably started as young as 12 years old. So here are my thoughts. 

1. Guys don't often do their homework when searching for products. Either they are embarrassed or they don't feel the need to. That alone is a good reason to help them out. 
2. There are multiple options. I'm not suggesting you get The Lawn Mower for your boss or Dad. That would be WEIRD and so wrong. But maybe Dad or Brother has unsightly nose hairs. This might be a polite nudge that gets them trying to look neater. And maybe your significant other has a bush bigger than yours. There is such a thing as too much. But these aren't the only TOOLS they offer. And certainly not the only products. They also have male nail grooming kits. Have a guy who can never seem to keep the claws within reason? There are two kinds to choose from.

Winter brings a lot of challenges. Especially when you are located in a place that has snow and ice. The Car Seat Key Gets This Momma's Approval!

Why DaffaDoot Should Be Your Go-To For Innovative Baby Gear

Imagine driving along with the kiddos in the backseat and suddenly hearing gagging. Ever been there before? That panic moment. Wondering what is happening, but unable to see what they are doing. A moment of panic... Well, I think DaffaDoot is the way to go to avoid just that.

From the day it shipped to the day I received it was only 5 days. I do want to warn you, that Mother's Day is their Black Friday. So if you are buying this for Mother's Day, get your order in early! They try to put it together and ship it as quickly as possible, but they are like any other company during their peak - they will be quite full in orders. I thought the box they shipped it in was really nice. The magnetic lid adds class and stability to it. Also added to the safety while being shipped.

Now for the ring itself, I was very pleased. I tried it on and liked how well it fit. Perfect sizing! And the workmanship was flawless as far as I could tell. Smooth in the roundness, each stone securely fastened and delicate in the design. It is definitely something to take pride in. I did get all imitation stones. Can't afford to go real at this time in my life. Especially not with this many stones! But the coloring for each is quite brilliant. 

My impression of Mama's Jewelry is that this is a company that I would trust to make something beautiful and lasting. Their jewelry is easy to make. It is well-crafted. Their intentions are to make things that are utilized as reminders of a Mother's greatest pride - having children! And for Nana's - not just children, but also grandchildren. As my Mom always told me, that is when you become a pro. When you can spoil the grandkids and send them back home!

Dr. Jacobs Naturals Review

My family has been steadily trying to move in the direction of all natural products. With so many chemicals and unpronounceable ingredients in the health and beauty lines, it can be difficult to find ones that are free of what I like to call "junk". And being that I married a man who comes from a family of sensitive skin people, chances are good that my daughter will follow with that. So we have to be careful with what we use. That is why I was eager to try out Dr. Jacobs Naturals.

Teaming up with US Family Guide, Dr. Jacobs Naturals wants to get the word out, through bloggers about their products. They are as they advertise, natural! I was sent three products to try. 

Minty Cucumber Mojito Loofah Exfoliating Castile Soap is a bar soap. Not often do I like bar soap, but this one has my seal of approval! I use it on my skin as well as my feet to exfoliate all over. And the scent is quite alluring. I also appreciate the fact that it is a large bar. These are not like the little ones you buy in stores. 

Almond Honey Castile Liquid Soap came in a pump bottle. This is for both face and body wash. I thought the smell was more cherry than almond or honey. Perhaps the blend of the two made it so. It was too cherry for my liking, however. I used this on my hair first. Being a pure castile soap as it is, it is supposed to work well for anywhere you choose to use it. My hair did not like it as much as my hands did though. It felt a little oily afterwards. I think it is best used for body and face instead. My  husband thought the scent was too overpowering for him. While his hair was not as greasy-feeling as mine, it was definitely a little more weighty than he feels it normally is after being washed. I used it in my baby's bath too. Her skin was silky smooth and she liked the smell. I know because she kept putting her face near the water to breathe it in.
Lastly, I have the Charcoal Castile Soap. This is also a face and body wash. I used this one on my legs to shave with. Lathers up really well! And deep cleans.

I could feel the exfoliation it was doing while I was washing with it. I had thought charcoal was more of a fad, but now I see why so many people are using it. My husband used it to shave with on his face. It did help with the shaving process and made him feel smoother, but the smell triggered a headache for him. He said it was too strong for him, though I thought it was just right. 
Overall, I love these products. I love how my skin feels after using them. I like the scents, well except for the almond one that reminded me of cherries. I am also glad that these are made of more natural products. As the saying goes, if you can't read the ingredients, then it probably isn't very good for you.

Being organized is important to me. But staying there is quite difficult. I've read books, received tips and been trying to keep up.
That's where Space to Spare: A Mom's Guide to Organization by Debbie Lillard comes in handy. She walks you through the steps after presenting the problematic scenario. And it's not just about physical organization. Mom's need to have their time organized as well. After all, how can we tackle the mountain of tasks when we can't prioritize them first?

She lays out ways to organize your things. How many of us have lost things and bought something to replace it only to find the lost thing later? *raises hand here* This chapter leads to the next about organizing your home. Once you know your things, you can organize how efficiently the home runs.

I like the section about decluttering my time. I don't know about you, but I am terrible about overcrowding my days with tasks that I think I need to have done every day. I overwhelm myself. The truth is, there are some things that only need to be done weekly. Some things can be done monthly. And then a few can be done daily.
I'm learning to keep things organized by functionality. Like keeping bags for dirty diapers near the trash can.

It's the little things that do add up in helping us Moms keep things rolling smoothly.
This book is great for Mom's who seriously want help getting life organized. I don't think every solution is for every individual. We are all different with our own needs and situations, but like any organizing help it can give you ideas to get you started.

Ozeri InstaVac Food Storage Set Review

I am so happy to write this review! And super excited about the product. Through my US Family Guide association, I was chosen to test out this Ozeri InstaVac Food Storage Set. It comes with 4 containers that each have a lid.

The idea behind these storage containers is that you can release air through a vacuum seal and therefore prolong the life of fresh foods being stored. It prevents bacteria from forming with.

I love how easy to use they were. With just pressure from my fingers, the air was released and it became vacuumed sealed. You can't even open the lid from the sides until you release the valve on top. And you can hear the air coming out or going in to know its done. The other great part is the dial on the top that you set to the day you put the food in. I can't tell you how often I've stored something and forgot how long its been in the fridge... This way, I know! Without stickers on the container or writing. On the bottoms, there is a wave pattern. This keeps things like fruits and vegetables from sitting in their natural juices and getting soggy. 
I also like that they are supposed to be stain-resistant, shatter-proof while also being just as transparent as glass. With kids, glass doesn't last long. It is considered dangerous in our home. So having well-made plastic things is awesome.
I think this would be a great gift too. I mean, its not just food storage. Its also food organization. You can microwave, freeze and throw them in the dishwasher. My video below will show you how to use them. What do you like about something like this?
