That's Not a Hat!

Ravensburger - do you know that name? If not, let me introduce you!

*Disclaimer - I was sent these products for free in exchange for hosting a party and posting my reviews. I was not otherwise paid or endorsed. All opinions are my own or those of my guests.*

Ravensburger is a name you might see on some games, toys and puzzles. They are a family-owned company that has been making games since 1883!

They sent me two games to showcase. One is called That's Not a Hat. This is the one I focused on. The other was Strike, which I gave away as a door prize. Both can be found on the Ravensburger website. Don't worry, I'll have links below!

That's Not a Hat

That's Not a Hat was truly fun, even through it's challenging play. We had to read through the instructions a couple times, but overall we loved the laughter! It is about having the ability to remember all your "gifts" or be able to bluff when you forget. For us older ones... we forgot, but we dusted off those bluffing skills like champs!

I highly suggest watching this how-to-play video before you try playing. Makes it a lot easier!

The official information on the game is:
That's Not a Hat - Wrap and regift objects in this deceptively simple card game of having the world’s best memory... or convincing everyone you do! Was that gift a hat, a bucket, or a traffic cone?! Play this “unforgettable” bluffing game with friends and family for fun, laughter, and a dash of madcap mayhem. As cards or gifts are flipped face down and passed around the table, players must memorize the object on each card or bluff their confidence as they pass the unwanted gift to someone else. Avoid getting caught declaring the wrong object or gain penalty points. The player with the least points at the end wins!

Recommended Age: 8+

Great for parties!

Number of Players: 3 - 8

15 minutes playtime

Includes: A rule book and 110 cards with simple illustrations for maximum
memorization chaos.

I've done a few of their puzzles over the years. But want to know a game I loved that they put out? My mom sent me this one before... Under their ThinkFun products, you can find the Cold Case Files. I have done A Pinch of Murder with my husband. It was so much fun!

Where can you find these games for yourself?

So glad you asked! As I mentioned above, you can go directly to the Ravensburger website. But there are other options of places you can look for the games at.

That's Not a Hat:

Ravensburger has it for $10.99.

Barnes & Noble had it too for the same price.

Amazon was the same price.

Strike:

Ravensburger has it for $24.99.

Walmart has them for the same price.

Amazon was the same price.

What do you think? Was this a great game option? I'll be looking forward to hearing from you in the comments below!

Game On! With OP Games!

My family has quite the collection of board games. We try to play together as often as we can. We were sent two more to add to our collection! Both were sent to us by OP Games. Don't recognize the name? Have you heard of a game with 'opoly' at the end? Then you know the company who sent these to us!

*Disclaimer: I was sent these products in exchange for hosting a party as well as sharing reviews afterwards. I was not otherwise paid or endorsed. All opinions are mine and my guests only.*

Through Tryazon, I was sent 2 board games. Telestrations and Blank Slate. We have played a version of Telestrations before. But this was a different version. Here is where we have fun and get to know the games.

Telestrations

Telestrations was hilarious. It really does include everyone no matter their level on drawing skill. As a matter of fact, we didn't bother keeping score. We just enjoyed seeing where the original word led us each round. The original word is written in the secret word space. You pass the book to the next person. They read the word, draw it, and then when time is up we pass again. Next person guesses and passes. And the rounds continue until we are on the final guess on the last page. Everyone gets their original book back and the big reveal is likely to have some hard laughter belted out around the table.

Where can you find this and other variations? Walmart has several kinds. As does Amazon. And then if you shop at Target, there are some there too. I was surprised, but Barnes & Noble also sells this one.

Blank Slate

Now we move on to the second game we tried out. Blank Slate! We didn't have enough time to play this one, so I decided to pass it on as a door prize. However, I do have this video to explain how to play the game.

Where can you find this one?

Walmart has it. So does Amazon. And so does Target

We love having games like this. It brings us together in a fun way. And with the weather getting colder, it will be great to pass the time indoors together surrounding a board game!

What do you think? Does your family still take time to play together? Let me know in the comments below!

Play Monster Party Fun! Discount Included

Our family loves to play games. Cards, video and board games. If can be played together, we are all in! One of my favorite game companies, Play Monster, sent us a couple new ones for our collection. Check out the fun we had and get your discount below!

*Disclaimer: I was sent these games in exchange for hosting a party and writing a review. I was not otherwise paid or endorsed. All opinions are strictly my own.*

I was sent two games to test out with family and friends. Farkle and Five Crowns. I had never played either one, but was told at least one, if not both, were a lot of fun.

Farkle

Farkle was the first one my kids wanted to try with me. It is a game of chance with the dice. Super simple to play, but does have us questioning our decision making on risk-taking skills!

You can get the Farkle game from PlayMonster for $9.99.

Five Crowns

Then we have Five Crowns. I have to say, this one took us for a loop and the kids said it was more difficult at first. The rules are bit more complicated. However, I think it has potential to be lots of fun once you get into the rhythm with it.

I did like that the points list are posted on the rule manual and the box. The more you have it to check with, the easier it can be to determine if you have a winning hand. I was also thankful that they included the QR code that linked to an instruction video. It was still complicated, however. So watch it a couple times and listen carefully. I'm pretty sure we were not playing it right the first time.

Five Crowns is $12.99 on the PlayMonster website.

I'm always down for trying a new game with my family. These two were more of a challenge, but that can be a good thing! I will say that I look forward to seeing what others think of this game as we play with other family and friends. Each perspective can be fun while it adds to the experience. Which game would you most like to try? Leave me a comment below!

Want to get your own?

Taking Game Night to the Zombies! (Discount included!)

Our family loves to play board games! We have quite the growing collection. But I always jump at the chance to try out new ones with my kids. PlayMonster teamed up with Tryazon to showcase a game just in time for Christmas shoppers!

*Disclaimer: I was sent these two games in exchange for hosting a party and writing my honest review. I was not otherwise paid or endorsed. All opinions are strictly my own.*

I wasn't very familiar with PlayMonster. I knew only about the Spirograph toys as that is something I've enjoyed since childhood. However, since being a part of this party, I have learned about other products they offer. I highly recommend checking their website out and seeing what they have available! For now, I'm going to show you the two games they sent me and tell you what our family has thought of them. At the end, I'll also share a discount! So hang with me!

Zombie Chase - This is the main game they wanted to show off. And it was indeed the most fun we have had in a while. Even the little one enjoyed playing with us! We tested it out a couple times before sharing the fun with others. It was pretty simple to set up. Once you start the rounds, you will see how easy it is to play. The premise of the game is that you and your friends went to a theme park. You find yourselves locked in, in the dark, and running from the parks zombified maintenance guy! You have to get a flashlight, get to the maintenance shed, grab a gate key, and then get to a gate to get out. But you won't be taking a leisurely stroll through the park.

You will be running from the zombie. Every time you roll to move your character, you also roll to move the zombie. You better hope that your friends aren't caught! Otherwise you will be running from them as well.

This game is for ages 7 and up. My 4 year old has played with us, however, and LOVED it! She just needed a little help remembering to take the right steps. My kids shared it with others at a church event recently. It was fun watching them play. It is about a 30 minute play depending on how many players you have. You can have up to 6 players.

If you purchase it from their company website, it is $19.99. Don't forget to look below for the discount though! You can only use that discount on their website. However, should you not want to order it directly from them and save money in the process, you can also get it on Amazon or Walmart.

Next up!

Reign - This one is a little more advanced. At first, I wasn't sure I could keep up with the rules. However, once you get into it, you find the game play is pretty simple. You have a board that is split into various "land masses" that go together almost like a puzzle.
Each player, you can only have up to 4, sets out their army faction. It is the Final Battle Royale. As you move with each turn, you have a couple things you want to do. You want to collect the Power Stones.
These help in battle and with extra moving. You also want to get your characters to safety. You see, as you each take a turn, you slowly get closer to land masses being torn apart by natural disasters.
The board shrinks! Until all that is left is the center plot, where the final character standing is the victor. As you land next to each other, you can fight them. The one with the highest score wins the fight. The other person is eliminated. Our family really dug into it. We can be pretty competitive when it comes to gaming. I liked the factions. You have Samurai, Barbarian, Droids, and Super Soldiers. Oh and each group has various degrees of level. 1, 2, or 3. This diversifies the battle!
You'll understand better when you play. Until then, they show a little of what it is like in this video.

Want to get a copy for your collection? If you get it from PlayMonster directly, it is $29.99. Don't forget the discount below! However, you could get it at these other retailers too. Amazon or Target

Discount time!

Okay, you patiently got through my talk, so here is the discount information you have really been looking forward to.

As my reader, and by extension - a party guest, you are allowed to get 25% off your order on PlayMonster.com. It is not just on these two games! Anything you order from them.
