FAST Follow Up Party

We have been using Nisim FAST for about six weeks now. I distributed the products and we had online parties for it. You can check out my initial party post HERE

*Disclaimer: I was sent these products to share with others, host a party, and share my personal review. I was not otherwise paid or endorsed.*

My personal experience with FAST was great. I used it alternately with my normal shampoo as I would any other. I loved how soft my hair became with using it. I didn't like that it is so difficult to get the conditioner out. You have to squeeze pretty hard. But it is was thick and always made my hair easy to brush out afterwards. I have thick, long hair - so this is a huge plus for me! I was a little sad to see that I'm among those that didn't show growth. But the healthier feel definitely makes up for that!

The following opinions comes from my party guests. Their thoughts, how often they used it and the results. It really shows how different people have different outcomes.

Rebekah - She said it dried her hair out. She used about 4 times a week, or every other day. Her set of shampoo and conditioner lasted over 6 weeks. She had about a two inched of growth, going from 8 to 10.
Rachel - Her opinion was that it made her hair very oily. Her hair grew a half an inch though.
Nana - Products did not feel any different than her normal ones. Her hair grew a half inch in the 6 week period. She did have 2 complaints, however:

1. The smell bothered her. She said it smelled "weedy" to her and she didn't like it.

2. The conditioner was too difficult to get out of the bottle. But it is thick, which she liked. Just needs a better delivery system.

Robin - No change in her length. She used it just like regular shampoo, every 2-3 days. She liked the light scent. It didn't bother her allergies.
Drea - The conditioner was too difficult to get out. She was not a fan of the smell either. But she did like how manageable her hair was when she used it. She would switch between the FAST and her normal brand. The day she used FAST, her hair felt dryer, but when she swapped, her hair was incredibly softer. It was easy to style! And her hair did grow more than normal (which was surprising to her). She went from 7.5 to 9 inches!

Mel - The smell wasn't to her liking either. She said it reminded her of her Grandfather's smell. So more on the manly side. She would have enjoyed it more if she had a different scent to it.

Janeene - She enjoyed the smell of her hair, post-washing. She felt like she was leaving a salon. The conditioner was difficult to get out the bottle. Didn't have much growth though.

Kristina - She had an inch worth of growth in the 6 weeks of trying it. She didn't have a problem with the conditioner bottle, but the smell wasn't for her either. Too manly.

Condensing the opinions...

Over all, I think the consensus is that everyone's hair reacts differently, just like with any other products. We would all like to see the conditioner in a container that allows it to come out easier. Maybe pump action or just a bigger hole in the lid. Other scents - options for the ladies would make it more appealing.

Hair cutting solutions here in St. Augustine!

So I went for round two of trying to get my hair cut. This time I struck gold. I went to A Cut Above in the strip where the new Ross is being built  there just before 312. Its a local place that I was referred to by a few people after the last fiasco. It's such a welcoming place to go. Nothing like that hole in the wall dump I went to before. It's clean and comfortable and also well lit.
I specifically set up my appointment with Diane. I was referred by her grandson. Though, there are plenty of other talented stylists to choose from. Diane's granddaughter even works there. I was also told Kim does a great job. So the choices are there. Everyone I saw coming and going was in a good mood. They had plenty of seating for those waiting, though you wouldn't have to wait long.

Diane did an excellent job. She paid attention to the natural part (most stylists choose to "create" a uniform part) which means I won't have to fight my hair to stay in place. She talked to me like a friend would. She made me laugh. It was a whole new experience. Then she cut with precision. I like a stylist that knows what they are doing. No hesitation, no fumbling around. It means I'll get out at a decent time. I was aiming for Victoria Beckham's classic short sling.
It stacks in the back and comes nearly to a point in the front. I didn't quite get that. My hair has a natural curl to it that comes out during certain weather and when cut. As she began cutting up the back, it began curling. Instead, she offered a median. It comes a little higher in the back than the front, but still short enough to make me happy.
For now, I have hair I can enjoy without pulling it up. Eventually, I'll try again for the shorter, edgier look.

Acure review

Having healthy, moisturized skin is just as important to me as having healthy, vibrant hair. Your skin protects you from the outside elements. In these summer months, I've let my face go a bit. And it's beginning to show. Florida is hot and very humid. Though there is moisture in the air, it dries out your skin. It's important to always stay hydrated and well moisturized. However, using just any lotions, cleansers, primers or products can be damaging to your skin rather than good. I recently received products to try for a review from Acure. They claim to have "ACURE for your skin * ACURE for the planet". They sent me a variety of things to try. Of course, the day or two before I get them, I get sunburned from a trip to the pool without sunscreen...
First thing I tried of course was the Oil Control Facial Moisturizer (which my face desperately needed after the burn). It didn't take a lot to douse my face with and the moisturized feeling stayed all day while at work. Normally my forehead would begin to oil up within 3 or so hours. Not with this stuff. I don't sport that shiny glow too when I use this. And even while walking about outside in the heat and humidity, it's still not drying out or oiling up. Its lilac scent is my favorite. It hydrates and prevents oil-causing sheen breakouts.
The next thing I used was the Facial Cleansing Crème in the Argan oil and mint scent. I love the fresh scent while I'm washing my face! I felt refreshed and clean. I’ve also noticed a good difference in my pores.

*After cleansing my face, before going to work*
I hate having to wash and then condition my hair. I know they are both cleansing and such, but it takes too long. I’m a home schooling mother of three who works part time, is now volunteering as an instructor for Sea Cadets and then I write this blog. Plus there are all the other daily needs I have to attend to. Showers are quick and practical. Conditioning is optional. I usually just want to use a 2 in 1. But I got to try an alternative that I really enjoyed. The Leave-In Conditioner is quick and easy to use. It comes in spray form so there is no worry of having oily, greasy, conditioned fingers afterward as some brands can leave you feeling. Just a couple quick squirts and I can be on my way. I also like that it has detangling abilities. My hair is getting longer and it's thick, coarseness makes it prone to knots. The scent I received is minty with a hint of the Argan oil.
*After being at work all afternoon/evening*
Lastly, I also had the seriously hydrating Facial Toner. It also comes in spray form. You simply mist your face with this and it begins hydrating throughout the day. Its scent is that of Argan oil with mint I believe. When you use this with the cleanser, they make a great pair. Clean and hydrated face that lasts all day!
Overall, I’m beginning to like the minty smell. I’ve gotten things with the Argan oil and thought, no way will I use that! But these were different. Its subtle and blended so well that you won’t notice it. Lilac is strong, but something I’ve always loved. Using it in the moisturizer is great. My favorite of these four would have to be the moisturizer followed closely by the leave-in conditioner.

Original Spout review and discount

Recently I tried a new shampoo. Its a name brand that I'm pretty sure everyone knows. Unfortunately, it didn't agree with my scalp and I ended up itchy-headed with dryness around my ears and edges of my hairline. It got me to thinking. This isn't the first time I've met a brand that wasn't good for me. The only reason I tried it to begin with was because I had a coupon for a free bottle. But its not natural, not organic... They say the healthier stuff is better right? Well, I'm on the lookout for more healthier living and shampoo is on the list too. That's when I came across Original Sprout.
They are 100% vegan, organic and natural. There is no testing on animals. The products are also made here in the United States. Original Sprout wishes to stimulate the economy, create new jobs while reducing the carbon footprints and ensuring non contamination of ingredients. Their products are also biodegradable. This is a truly Eco friendly company. They support Trees for the Future to globally replant forests as well. The founder of Original Sprout is Inga Tritt. She is a Master Stylist out in California who wanted to create professional styling products that were safe for families. You can read more about her and the company she started here.

Another reason I'm drawn to Original Sprout was because they are free of insect attracting honey. As a woman, I want to smell good all the time. But I don't like smelling so good that the bugs follow me around. Especially here in the south!

Now about the products I tried... The Natural Shampoo and Deep Conditioner are so light and airy. It has a gentle feel to it. Its lightly scented with organic rosemary. My hair feels softer as soon as I start rinsing. I noticed immediately that after using this only once, I had no tangles! I could run my fingers through my hair (which is normal thick and coarse) and feel the softer tangle-free way it had become. As soon as I started brushing after my shower, still no tangles! The softness lasted all day. Some brands of shampoos irritate my scalp as I mentioned above. These didn't.

The Scrumptious Baby Cream is also light feeling and doesn't leave an oily residue feeling. It kept my hands soft even after washing and using antibacterial sanitizer. Don't let the names fool you either, they aren't just products for babies. They are good for the whole family. Its good for all types of skin, including sensitive skin.
The last product I received to try was the Hair & Body Babywash. It's an extra moisturizing cleanser that gently washes away dryness, cradle cap, eczema, psoriasis, baby acne, heat rash, diaper rash and skin irritations. It doesn't matter how old you are, if you have skin issues I suggest trying it. I have dry skin and it worked wonderfully on me. It also keeps my baby girl's skin smooth and soft.

I decided to experiment this morning... After having used the Original Sprout the past several times of washing my hair, I used a name brand I was previously using. Big mistake! My head is itching like crazy. There is definitely a difference between the natural and the chemical types.

Original Sprout provides a number of organic products for your hygienic needs. Such as: shampoo, conditioner, Tahitian hair oil, face and body sunscreen, natural styling balm, natural curl calmer, baby cream, hair and body wash, detangler, leave-in conditioner, and natural hair gel. I haven't come across a single thing about these products that I didn't like! Even the price is right considering what other "healthy" hair care goes for these days. Definitely check them out and tell me what your thoughts on the products are. I love hearing from you all!

it Factor hair products review

I have naturally thick, coarse hair. And frequently I like to grow it out to a point that I have enough to cut it and donate to Locks of Love. In the meantime, however, I have to deal with a rough horses mane for hair. It's unruly, plain, and not as soft as I'd like.
Before....
At least until now. I was given the chance to try out some it Factor™ products that have had me saying Wow! for the past couple days now.
Shampoo, Conditioner, and Smoothing Lotion - all with the Quick Blowdry formula and VaporBoost System™. One washing and a couple dabs of the smoothing lotion had me ready for a night with the girls! I let my hair air dry since blow dryers can be so damaging and take so long with the amount of layers I have to go through. it Factor™ has a quick drying formula that enables your hair to dry faster. It also keeps your hair smooth and soft. I've always wanted hair like the commercials and this is the closest I've come yet!
After!
I also love how it doesn't have all those unhealthy added chemicals such as: sulfates, parabens, or sodium chloride. I was able to wear it down all night and not once be tempted to pull it into a pony tail which has had me breaking at the top.
The scent is really light. It's not like the name brands that are overwhelming but don't last. I think this is great also for those like my mom who have allergies to string scents. I can't even spray much perfume on when I go to visit or she starts sneezing like crazy. Have a lighter scent in my hair means I don't have to forfeit a hug to save her nose! The Shampoo leaves your hair clean and shiny. The Conditioner gives it the soft, bouncy, smooth and shiny effect. And the Smoothing Lotion also helps keep your hair smooth and shiny while helping to keep your hair detangled and frizz-free.
All three products are safe for colored and chemically straightened hair. Overall, I'm absolutely thrilled with them. I was a Dove™ only user, but this has changed my tune. Compared to it Factor™, Dove™ seems dull. Check them out and let me know what you think about them! They have products for coarse and fine hair. You can purchase them online here.
