Preparing for Our Night at the Symphony!

My husband surprised me by purchasing tickets for us to go to the symphony later this mobth! Better yet, they are playing Star Wars music and will have our beloved Lando Calrissian actor, Billy Dee Williams, there! I'm so excited about it. As soon as he told me, I knew we had to dress up. Something that he totally agreed to.

He has decided to keep his attire simple. He will be wearing his "interview suit". But to dress it up, he requested Star Wars themed cufflinks and a tie. The cufflinks were relatively easy to find. I purchased these from Mercari.
As I looked for ties, however, I noticed that unless we wanted to pay a premium amount, finding him a Star Wars tie that wasn't tacky, wasn't easy. So I decided to look for another theme that suits him better. He might like Star Wars, but Star Trek holds a higher spot in his heart. And knowing him, he would rather show off such a love in front of Star Wars fans. So I decided to order him this tie to go with his ensemble!

Now for my gown. After all, a lady should be regally attired when going to the symphony, don't you think? I wanted to create a dress that would reflect my love of Star Wars. While I loved Princess Leia as a character, her clothing choices were mostly your bland, everyday variety. So I looked at her mother's outfits instead for inspiration. Queen Padme Amidala had many to choose from. All in a great array of fanciful uniqueness. I used to enjoy trying to imitate her hair styles for everyday wear. In my own way. I got inspiration from various Pinterest photos.

My mother and sister sent me some dresses recently. I am considering giving this one a makeover, however, I had not had much time to consider how so in recent weeks as I was overseas.

Don't worry! I have not forgotten to regale you with tales of Israel. Just been busy trying to get back into the groove of daily routine. Anyhow, I thought of adding a leather-like thick banded belt to the higher waist. But that is where my mind blanks. I do also have a long black cape with a silver lining I'm thinking to pair with it...

What ideas might you have? Which dress from the Star Wars series would you choose if you were in my shoes? Can't wait to read your comments below!

Letting My Inner Nerd Style Free!

I've spent way too long in jeans and a T-shirt. So, I'm letting the Nerd shine loud and proud! And just how am I doing that? By wearing the clothing that shows it off best.

I've been putting a lot of effort into creating a style board on Pinterest lately. I want to climb out of the wardrobe rut and return to consciously deciding on matching looks that express who I am. I used to style myself after Trinity from the Matrix movies with a long duster, knee high boots and black knee-length skirts. I wore cargo pants and corset tops. I'd have worn boots all year around, except I learned that was considered a no-no in the fashion world. I felt amazing! I didn't care what people thought of my look. I was me. Even more so, as I look back, it was when I was coming to the realization that I was a nerd. Not your broken glasses-fixed with tape, pocket protector-wearing, kind either. My style was eccentric. And I like to think that some part of me, still is that way. Just more refined...

(Zyia Havana tank, over blue tank, blue cardigan shirt, Evenstar necklace)

Fast forward many, many, MANY years. I have had 4 kids. I'm happily married to a guy who thinks I'm beautiful no matter what I look like. I have lived quite the seasoned life. I'm no longer flat-abs, but my hips and rear are definitely far more curvaceous. These are things that I'm taking into consideration as I plot out the types of clothes I want to wear.

Creating my first favorite outfit!

I had asked for this long vest piece and received it for Christmas. It goes perfectly with my long sleeve, blue Superman shirt. Though, for the summer months, I will be looking to get a short sleeved Wonder Woman shirt. Wonder Woman is definitely my hero and I want to be able to show that off all year long. This red cardigan vest is like wearing a red cape, but in a classier form for everyday wear! Over the winter months, I paired them with jeans and my black boots. I felt like I could easily be Super Woman.

But like I said, this outfit only works for the winter time. I needed a summer version too. So I found these shirt pieces at the local Goodwill. I can wear it with my jeans and ballet flats. I also wear the leather wrist band my mom sent me. Sadly, the Wonder Woman shirt you see here is a little on the tighter side. Downside to not being able to try things on before buying these days. So I mostly wear it around the house now.

My most recent additions are these Nerd+faith shirts that my husband and I got. I usually don't like matching him. Feels weird. But we saw these, and couldn't resist! I also like wearing mine with the red cardigan vest. After all, what Vader girl doesn't like her cape??

My next project was inspired by this elegant necklace that I got from Ms. Kara, who is a Paparazzi Consultant.
I immediately fell in love with it. Red is my color (can't you tell?) and this one screams HARLEY QUINN! So I have decided to try to create an outfit that goes with the necklace. Want to see more jewelry that will inspire you? Check out her Facebook page HERE. She truly is the Princess of Bling.

These outfits are me! These are my style beginning to shine forth. They raise my self confidence and make me feel beautiful. I can't wait to put together more looks like this. What is your go-to look?

Getting Naked in Public with the Undress!

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not big on show and tell. Changing in front of anyone except my husband or in a place where I might be seen, makes me very uneasy. More so now that I'm not a well-toned size 8. That is what excites me about introducing you to the Undress. I can change any where, any time, without worrying about who will see!

*Disclaimer: I was sent these products free of charge in exchange for my honest review. I was not otherwise paid or endorsed. All opinions are my own.*
Being a Mom, I have had plenty of moments where I needed to change. Quickly. Discreetly. And not a single place to change was nearby. Like the park for instance. Everything from a leaking diaper to spilled snacks and drinks - leaving me in a rush to get home and change. But then that takes away from the fun the kids are having. No way do I want to drive back to the park. Or how about being out and about and forgetting about the party I'm going to? Yep, meant to get home in plenty of time to change, but after losing track of time... well, I get to the festivities late and not looking my best. It can be embarrassing.
Ever had to duck behind the bushes after nervously looking around? How about having girlfriends hold up the towel so that you can shimmy behind it? You rush and blush all at once. Just wanting to hurry up and get it over with! What about trying to get dressed in the car? Not only are you fighting a small space, but checking the windows to make sure no one is coming around. Public bathroom changes... can I get an 'ew yuck'!? You don't have much room to put anything down and they are usually pretty gross.
So someone decided to do something about it!

A creation was born that would change how we look at this. Change how we handle getting undressed and dressed in public. Whether you are a Mom like me who needs help in crazy situations, or maybe you are on-the-go and need to save time for other things! Whatever your day brings you, there might come a time when you want to change quickly without making yourself and others uncomfortable. This isn't just a dress, it is a mobile changing room!
Good for all ages!

They come in 3 different sizes, A is for Youth 8-13, B is XS-L (which is what I'm wearing) and C is for XL-3XL. I love the versatility in doing it this way. There are great features to this dress as well. Like built in bra padding (petals) and hidden pockets. A self-packing pocket that makes it easy to fold up and take with you. They have adjustable straps to make it fit your style too. Empire waist, belted, loose and fitted. I prefer to go loose.

What did I try out?

I chose the Undress V3 - Red Sport Bamboo dress. Looks cute enough to wear out as an everyday dress, but I can also doll it up for fun outings as well. I was thinking a cute blue jean or leather jacket for lunch dates in the cooler weather. The material is breathable and soft.
They are currently slicing prices. Dresses used to be $99, but are now $79. You can also check out the new styles they are offering as they have gone from being a Kickstarter product to Indigogo. Facebook is just one way to keep track of new products!

What do you think? What is the best part of this dress to you? Would you have a use for it? Like changing after a workout of yoga session during your lunch break perhaps. What else can you think of? Leave me a comment below!

Boredom sends me searching....

It's not even 8 PM and I'm ready for bed. But its my turn to watch the kids while their dad is out for the night. So to keep myself occupied, I decided to catch up on little projects that have been tossed to the side in the hectic schedule I keep. One of those projects was to research things that caught my attention but had to be put on hold in the moment. Fashion in particular. I'm not into most fads. I'm not fashionable or up to par with whats hot in today's age. Do I try to dress nice? Of course. But I do so in my own way.
I heard about a couple things though that I find incredibly hard to believe that anyone would ever buy. Yet could possibly be lucrative to their creators. The first is Fruit Scented Jeans. How would you like pink jeans that smelled like strawberries? For up to 20 washes! I get that women in particular like smelling good, but seriously? Isn't that what perfume is for?
ABC posted an article and shared the company's website
I scratch my head at this one. Would you want to wear jeans that smelled like lemons? Would you pay that much for them? And how could you prolong the scent?

Then there is the Personal Space Dress... I'm from the South. I like my three feet space that surrounds me like a bubble. I don't like you people from up north who like to stand so close that I can smell your breath or that you are practically rubbing shoulders with me. I NEED my SPACE. But at the same time, I don't think I want to go to the extremes of getting the Personal Space Dress to keep people away. Its a dress that was designed to detect the presence of someone nearby and self inflate like an unfolding umbrella to form a protective circle around you that keeps everyone about arms length back. There are even websites that walk you through making one for yourself.

How about a robotic spider dress? You can look like a character from a sci-fi movie. Sensors on the torso of the dress detect someone or something getting close and spiny leg-like appendages reach out.
And they come in black or white.

What happened to dressing classy?
To having true style. To being able to have the right attitude and portray a strong personality.
When did we switch to the outlandish?
