Newman's Own Organics review and giveaway

For this amazing group of items I was given to review from Newman's Own Organics, I just want to say... wow! First some information about them. Newman's Own Organics is a division off of Newman's Own that later became its own company started by Nell Newman and her partner Peter Meehan. She came up with an organic line that has some really great snacks that your whole family can find something to enjoy while eating healthier. You can actually read the ingredients and pronounce the words without stumbling. It's an American company so buying from them boosts our economy. However, as an added bonus - NOO also supports organic farmers as well consistantly donating to charities. These products are certified organic, the ingredients are grown on farms that haven't been using artificial fertilizers or pesticides for at least 3 years or more and have even been certified to be Kosher. Now to tell you about the yummy treats my family tried!
The Fig Newman's tasted really good. Not like most fig cookies. These have a definite wholesome taste that you notice immediately. They are naturally sweet without additives. I love that they are dairy-free since my nursing baby girl has a hard time digesting proteins found in most dairy products. They also happen to be wheat-free, so if you have allergen issues these are great! Tasty, filling, and wholesome. You can tell they don't use bleached flour by the darker color on the outside.
The Hermits weren't met with enthusiasm in our group of testers because we aren't big on raisins. However, they do still have a great texture and taste.
The Orange Chocolate Chip cookies are bite-size chocolate chip cookies with the taste of orange. These were really good. Satisfies your sweet and crunchy craves all at once.
My family loved the Cinnamon Graham Alphabet Cookies. They are a tasty treat that I used to encourage learning. We sat around reading the letters while enjoying a light snack with my boys.
These cookie packs make great take-alongs for snacks or for parties.

Dark Chocolate Caramel, Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter, Milk Chocolate Caramel, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter and the Dark Chocolate Peppermint cups are all rich organic chocolate with smooth/creamy centers. I LOVED these! They come three in a pack and make a great quick sweet treat on the go. The Peppermint cups in particular are amazing! My husband even loved them. We both wanted the last one...
The Honey Wheat Pretzel Minis tasted great. You couldn't really taste the honey but they were still a great snack. The Unsalted Pretzel Rounds are not only organic but these are great if you need to lighten up on the sodium.
Pretzel rods - pretzels are always a great snack choice. And with the rods, I enjoyed them as a light breakfast by dipping them in peanut butter. They are great for little fingers too. Kids can really grip them and take bites at their own pace.

Super Dark Chocolate bar - I love dark chocolate. It's full of antioxidants and healthier for you. This super dark chocolate is amazing. So creamy and smooth. Most natural chocolates have a slightly more bitter taste, but this one is balanced.
Expresso Dark Chocolate bar - didn't have a coffee taste to it which makes it great for people who love coffee and chocolate but not an overbearing taste.
Mocha Milk Chocolate bar - you can taste the hint of mocha flavoring but its not overpowering. It's just a smooth flavor with chocolate.
Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Orange Dark Chocolate bars are smooth and rich. Tastes just as good (I think better) than your name brand candy bars but all are filled with organic goodness.
Hint-O-Mint Newman-O's were really good. Add a glass of milk to dunk with and it made a perfect night time snack. They are made with organic flour and sugar as well as other natural ingredients. I also love the little poem they include on the back of the Newman-O packages:

Ode to Newman-O's

You might, m'lady
tweak my nose.
You could, m'lord
step on my toes.
But Heaven help
those poor bozos,
who try to filch
my Newman-O's.
We also enjoyed the Creme and Chocolate Creme filled. I had to limit my kids and husband or they would go through a full pack in one sitting. And since my husband is a die-hard Oreo fan... that's pretty amazing.
Do you like Altoids? If so, I suggest trying the Newman's Own Organics Mints. They have several flavors to choose from and each flavor comes in a really awesome tin. My husbands favorites were the HOT and Ginger. I enjoyed the Peppermint and Wintergreen Mints. The tins (once emptied) became cool little boxes for the kids to store their treasures in.
I also tried the Sour Cherry, Sour Apple, and Pomegranate Licorice Twists. Surprisingly, the sour flavors aren't all that sour. But they were still really good. Even the kids enjoyed them. Pomegranate has to be my favorite. Its a flavor I enjoy in all sorts things and now I love it in licorice!
They also have dried organic fruits such as the Apples and Cranberries they sent me. They go great with home made trail mixes or just on their own for a light and healthy snack on the go.
Other products you can check out are pet foods, teas and coffees...
All of these things make for one grand mixture and variety of organic foods for the whole family to enjoy. All my picky eaters found something they loved. And I've finally shown my husband that there are healthy foods that even he can eat without making a face!

CoverYourHair.com review and giveaway

Ah the holidays!
Time for cooking enormous meals, having the family come over, and even sharing gifts. But... How long and hard is that search for those perfect gifts? Especially for women on your list? Well, I have a review that may give you some ideas for those ladies.

As women we are really into accessorizing and having great hair. Well, what about combining the two? I found this company online called CoverYourHair.com. They offer so many things specifically for your hair/head. Whether you need a cute bow or flower for a baby girl, a fancy headband for a night out, or a tie back to keep your hair out of your face while working - they have you covered! I chose 3 things for my review that give you a glimpse at the variety.
For my baby girl I picked a big Red Lilly Flower Hair Clip. My daughter has a lot of hair, but she will need a little more before this one truly fits well so I took a couple pictures to show you the sizing. However, its SO cute! A big red lilly shaped flower with a clear gem in the center attached to a sturdy metal clip. She wore it to our family Thanksgiving dinner and looked so adorable.
I also requested the Celebrity Studded Headband. Its stylish and perfect for a more dressy occasion, but I think it would be great to doll up an outfit made of jeans and a blouse as well. The silver on black with clear gems in the design is very classy. I like that its really soft, durable, provides a great look as well as practical.
My third choice was the Multi headband 3 in 1. There are three stylish ways to wear this one headband. I like to have my hair back, but not pulled back since that can often cause your hair to break on top. So headbands are a great option. This one can be worn as a regular headband, a wide headband or like a bandana depending on how much hair coverage you are looking for. This style and colors make it great for any time – as a day or night accessory.
The fun doesn't end there though. They have so many other things; hats, gloves, banana clips, belts, combs/brushes, clips... the list goes on. Prices are good too. And even better if you use the promo code "blog1231" to get 20% off your purchase just for being one of my readers! This code expires 12/31/12 though, so you should really get to checking them out soon! I really hope you check out their blog too. They have some amazing style tips you might want to try out to your next big event.  http://www.hairaccessoryblog.com/

Krema and Crazy Richard's natural peanut butters review

I love peanut butter. I'll try any kind. Recently I was given the chance to try some Krema and Crazy Richard's 100% Natural Peanut Butters. I was not disappointed.

First I want to point out a few things you should know about natural peanut butter. If you are a die-hard fan of a name brand like Skippy or Jif, you probably won't like it. It's not the same consistancy for starters. When you open a jar of natural peanut butter, you need to keep it upright. Stir it up really good making sure to mix up whats on the bottom too. I especially love having this kind of butter with my moms home made strawberry jam. It's not overly sweet. I've tried one other natural peanut butter before. It was awful. Left a really bad after-taste and ended with me throwing it out. These butters don't have an after-taste. They are smooth and have a great natural taste. None of those chemicals, hydrogenated fats, filler, or loads of salt and sugar. It's been promoted by the South Beach Diet - so you know its great for those looking to lose weight. Both Cooking Light and Prevention magazines have promoted it as well. Don't trust my word alone? Check out their website. Other bloggers and media entries can be seen.
You can read more by checking out their website and other products at http://www.thesisterssweetshoppe.com/Krema-Peanut-Butter/products/2/
Two sisters: Melissa and Nanette run the Sisters Sweet Shoppe in Dublin, Ohio. They specialize in fruit cakes and other tasty treats that include nuts and fruits. If you are truly looking to stay healthy and eat better, I suggest these peanut butters as a great addition to your diet. Peanuts in general add fiber and protein. What better way to eat them than in peanut butter?
You can follow their updates on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Sisters-Sweet-Shoppe.
Follow their blog via Wordpress http://blog.thesisterssweetshoppe.com/.
They are also on Twitter @Sistersshoppe and have videos on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/user/SistersSweetShoppe.
These are even great for baking! And I have a wonderful recipe for you that uses natural peanut butter.
4 Ingredients Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies
Makes 15 cookies

Ingredients

1 cup natural peanut butter, smooth or crunchy 1 cup sugar
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a hand or stand mixer, mix the peanut butter, sugar, egg and vanilla on low speed until well combined.
Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop about 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough 1 1/2-inches apart onto the baking sheet. If you don’t have a cookie scoop, drop the dough with a spoon.
Flatten the dough balls the tines of a fork, making a cross pattern on the cookies.
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until they are golden around the edges. Allow the cookies to rest on the counter for 2 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Preparation time: 5 minute(s)

Cooking time: 10 minute(s)

Mediterranean Snacks review and giveaway

I'm still researching healthy products. And I've come across another bunch of goodies to tempt you with. Mediterranean Snacks sent me some things to try and write about. They provide gluten free, no trans fat, and 30% less fat than regular potato snacks in their snack foods. They sent me the Original Veggie Medley Straws, Rosemary Herb Lentil Crackers, Organic Popcorn, and the Original Veggie Medley Chips.

The Straws were a huge hit with my family right off the start! My picky son and even my husband would have devoured the whole bag in one sitting if I didn't limit them both. They are a potato snack-like chips but shaped like square straws instead. So light and airy in texture, not drenched in some salty flavoring - they make a great snack.
Then we tried the Organic Popcorn. Normally the only popcorn I like eating is covered in cheese or caramel. But I really enjoyed this! It’s so light and fluffy. They are air popped with a hint of sea salt and olive oil. My husband even LOVED them. He usually complains if he doesn't have his absolute favorite brand name popcorn, saying that everything else just "isn't as good" or "tastes so-so". And since popcorn is always on hand in our home, this is a snack I truly appreciate having around.
The Original Veggie Medley Chips tasted the same as the straws, but were shaped just like a normal wavy chip. Again, very light and airy in texture. Not drenched in high sodium content. You don't end your snacking with colored sticky fingertips.

Rosemary herb is an interesting taste. I’m not used to it, but these lentil crackers were actually pretty good. It’s a very strong herb and it was good with my moms homemade salsa.
The prices are comparable to most other store brands you might go for, so if you're paying that much anyways, why not get something much healthier for your family? They also have Hummuz Crispz, Baked Lentil Chips, and Multi Grain Chips. So many different flavors to choose from, great prices, and they may even have a store that carries them near you! Just check the Store Locator here: http://www.mediterraneansnackfoods.com/store-locator/. And to see more about them or what they offer, just go here: http://www.mediterraneansnackfoods.com/. You can also follow them to see what's new: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/MediterraneanSnackFoods, via Twitter @medsnax. They also have store fronts on Amazon and Alice.com.

They are supposed to have a $1.00 off coupon on their website, but I was unable to get it to work on my computer. You can still give it a try and perhaps get it to work on yours.  http://www.couponfactory.com/share/71d858a9deef8c71486a972810f7bb05ed3d3364/
I foresee a trip to the store in a couple days when my boys run out of these good snacks!

***I was not paid anything for my reviews. They sent me the product in return for my honest opinions.***

Now for the fun part! A GIVEAWAY!!! That's right, one lucky winner will receive a mixed case of the Mediterranean Snacks Baked Lentil Chips (full size products). Just get your entries in below and good luck!

Leading Lady discount and Bra Fit tips

I got some interesting info to share with my female readers recently. And I also have a discount for you all from Leading Lady http://www.leadinglady.com/ . Below I have given you a copy of the tips they share in finding your perfect bra fit. And they have kindly given me a code for you (my wonderful readers) to use should you choose to purchase a bra from them. It gives you 15% off your purchase. The code is MCBLOG1950.

BRA FIT TIPS

The three most important factors in selecting a bra are: Fit, Comfort and Support.

Proper fit is essential to the health of your breasts. The right fit will help prevent sagging, chafing and keep breasts dry, supported and comfortable in even the most strenuous conditions.

So, how do you achieve the perfect fit? Leading Lady’s fit-conscious designer shares her tips for achieving the ideal fit, maximizing comfort and ensuring proper support.

Here are some common signs you may not be wearing the correct size:

If you can see part of your breasts sticking out of the neckline or the underarm, your bra cup is too small for your breast.
If the bra cup looks wrinkled on your breasts, it is probably too large.
You should not be using any of the under-bust elastic as part of the cup. If you are, it means the cup is not big enough for your breast.
Your bra should sit down on both your front and your back. If it is pulling up, the band is most likely too large for your frame and you will not get the correct amount of support.

How can you achieve your ideal fit, support & comfort?

Fit
Look at yourself in a mirror. Your breasts should appear supported and sit up on your chest.
Remember that many women are between sizes, so you may need to try a size up or down to get the best fit.
Read the fit guide. Every company has their own idea of what represents the best fit so this is a great way to make sure the cup and band sizes are correct for you.

Comfort & Support
Make sure the shoulder straps of your bra stay in place when you are in motion. If they slip off the shoulder or cut into the shoulder, adjust the straps or try a different size bra.
Wider and padded shoulder straps will help to keep weight stress dispersed over a larger area for greater comfort.
Adjustable shoulder straps will accommodate your individual needs, depending on your height and the weight of your breasts.

Remember
Replace your bras when they are worn out and no longer provide the support you need.

Consider the use of the bra. You should have a wardrobe of bras for various activities.
Whether you’re shopping for an everyday bra, want something pretty for a special occasion, need a good workout bra, or are looking for a leisure or sleep bra, consider the following:

Wirefree Styles
Make sure that the center front of your bra has some “sink in,” which means the cup sinks in toward your chest.
Look for a bra that gives you added support on the side of the cup. Styles with side slings help keep your breasts lifted for a nicer silhouette.
Wirefree bras are often more comfortable for a full figure bust or a woman who has experienced irritation from an underwire bra.

Underwire Styles
A properly fitting underwire bra can enhance the shape of a breast but make sure the wire sits correctly on your chest. The wire should not sit on your breast but should form a frame around your breast. Be sure the wire does not irritate your skin or breasts.
Make sure the side height is correct for your size. The wire should fit comfortably against your body at both the underarm and the center front. If the wire is too high under the arm, you will be uncomfortable and it may cause irritation. If the wire is too low under the arm, your breast will not be completely covered. If the wire sticks out between your underarm and your arm, your breast is likely pushing the wire out because the cup is too small.

Front Closure
Whether your front closure bra has hooks & eyes or clasps, make sure the closures feel comfortable and support your breasts. Some may have too many hooks, while others may not have enough.
Front closure styles are designed for easy dressing and are especially great for women with mobility issues who are unable to reach to the back to secure bras.
Look for a style that has a slightly wider plush section on the eye half of the closure, to avoid irritation from the hook & eye connection.

Back Closure
Make sure the back closure has at least three closures. Four closures will give you more flexibility with the bra as your size may fluctuate. However, it is always best to wear your bra on the first or second row of eyes. If you consistently use the third or fourth row, you may need to increase your band size.
Make sure the closures have enough padding for comfort.

Wear bras that are best suited to your individual needs.

Full Figure Bras
The fuller the breast the more support is needed, so look for a bra that has both encapsulation and light compression so that you still have full range of motion but have less strain and sagging.
Great support means a bra that encapsulates the breasts.
Compression is helpful to prevent your breasts from bouncing. Remember -- breasts move in more than one direction, up and down as well as side to side.

          Maternity or Nursing Bras
It is even more important to have support at this time because the breast changes size with the advance of pregnancy and when it is either full of milk or not – when nursing, your breast can change size many times a day!
Look for just the right amount of compression so that your breasts do not bounce. Too much compression will not be comfortable because breasts are more sensitive during pregnancy and nursing.
Stay away from cups that have added material or features that can cause irritation on sensitive breasts or nipples.
